Villard de Lans is the principal town of the canton and the center of attraction of the Vercors. At an altitude of 1050 m, this village of more than 4000 inhabitants lies on the foothills of the Grande Moucherolle which dominates it from the top of its 2285 m. Its privileged location, its easy access and the purity of its atmosphere recognized since the beginning of the century, have generated a new economy, boosted by the 1968 Olympic Games. Thus the climatic, summer and winter sports tourism has developed.

A specific resort
