What are the tests for?

Created by esf, the tests allow everyone to progress step by step in the practice of snow sports.

Based on precise technical criteria, our esf instructors validate with you or your child the skills acquired and the improvements to be made in the practice of alpine skiing

The various events in alpine skiing 

The Flèche

Giant Slalom event which counts for the SkiOpen ranking:
An event lasting approximately 40 seconds.
A course with between 25 and 35 gates and a vertical drop of 200 to 250 m.

Calculation of performances:
% authorized in addition to the standard time set by an esf instructor opener.
  • Gold : from 0 to 15%.
  • Vermeil : from 28.01 to 40%.
  • Argent : from 28.01 to 40%.
  • Bronze : from 40.01 to 45%.
  • Flechette : from 45.01 to 50%.

The Chamois

Special Slalom event which counts for the SkiOpen ranking:
Event lasting approximately 30 seconds. 
The course has between 30 and 40 gates and a vertical drop of between 120 and 200 m .

Calculation of performance: 
% allowed in addition to the standard time set by an esf instructor opener.
  • Gold : from 0 to 17%.
  • Vermeil : from 17.01 to 35%.
  • Silve : from 35.01 to 55%.
  • Bronze : from 55.01 to 75%.
  • Cabri : from 75.01 to 80

The Fusée

Super Giant event which counts for the SkiOpen ranking:
Event of approximately 50 seconds.
A track with a number of gates between 8 and 12% of the vertical drop.

Calculation of performance:
% allowed in addition to the standard time taken by an esf instructor opener.
  • Gold : de 0 à 15 %
  • Vermeil : from 0 to 15 %.
  • Silvert : from 28.01 to 40
  • Bronze : from 40.01 to 50%.

The record

Mileage event launched!

Timed descent in a straight line facing the slope over a length of 300 to 500 m and a vertical drop of 150 to 250 m. Speed appreciated in km/h.

Skiercross

Skiercross eventAlpine skiing combination of a technical course of different boxes including whoops, tables and banked turns on a slope of about 15° and 700 m long.

Calculation of performance:
% allowed in addition to the standard time performed by an esf instructor opener.
  • Gold: from 0 to 17%.
  • Vermeil : from 17.01 to 30%.
  • Silver: from 30.01 to 45%.
  • Bronze : from 45.01 to 60%.

The jump

Long jump on skis using a ski jump!2 jumps: the best jump scored validates the medal.

Calculation of performances:
% allowed less than the standard jump performed by an esf instructor opener.
  • Gold: 10 %
  • Vermeil : 20 %
  • Silver: 40 %
  • Bronze : 60 %

Skiing

To validate the level of skiing (bronze, silver, vermeil, gold), you must have obtained at least two identical levels from the tests : Flèche, Chamois, Fusée, Skier X, Jump.
