What are the tests for?
Created by esf, the tests allow everyone to progress step by step in their snow sports.
On the basis of specific technical criteria, our esf instructors validate with yours or your child’s technical level and the improvements to be made in the practice of snowboarding.
Tests for teens and adults
Discovery snowboard
To get the discovery Snowboard, you need to know how to make turns : do 4 to 6 discovery turns, one after the other.
And you need to master 2 of the 3 tests:
- Fakie: do a discovery rounded fakie turn in frontside and backside, starting in the line of slope.
- Basic attitude: sliding on a box in 50/50.
- Flat: perform discovery falling leaf technique in frontside and backside.
1st Snowboard
To obtain the 1st Snowboard, you must know how to make turns: do 4 to 6 elementary turns on after the other in a marked out course (cones that are 20 meters apart)..
And you need to master 2 of the 3 proposed tests:
- Fakie: do 4 to 6 discover fakie turns, one after the other.
- Basic attitude: perform a small jump on a box with a flat board take-off and landing.
- Flat: do two 180° front and back with a backside turn in between.
2nd Snowboard
To get the 2° Snowboard, you need to know how to make turns : do a series of small radius basic turns on medium slopes.
And you need to master 2 of the 3 proposed tests:
- Fakie: do 6 to 8 basic fakie turns in a marked out course, one after the other.
- Flat: do two 180° jumps, with a turn in between.
- Freestyle: perform a tail press on a box.
3rd Snowboard
To get the 3° Snowboard, you need to know how to make turns: to do a series of advanced big and small radius turns on packed snow
And you need master 2 of the 3 proposed tests:
- Basic attitude: maintain a nose slide or tail slide on the snow.
- Flat: do two 180° jumps in back and switch whilst traversing, with a frontside turn in between.
- Freestyle: perform a grab on a medium box (4 to 6 meters) while being balanced in the air.
Snowboard expert
To get the Snowboard Expert, you need to know how to make turns: to make a free descent in all snow / all terrain combining speed, trajectories, style and efficiency.
And you need to master 2 of the 3 proposed tests:
- X-Boarder: get the X-Boarder vermeil level.
- Flat: perform a minimum of 4 different linked figures during an evolution.
- Freestyle: Slide on a box in boardslide and do a 360° on a medium box (4 to 6 meters).
